Back to the company, just busy for a while, it is time to get off work.

"Nina, you are not here this afternoon. We have a department dinner today. I forgot to inform you." Department assistant Eva comes over, "It's in the Cozyroom near the company. Eat first, then sing."

"Eva, please tell Mr. Lauren that I won't go."

Nina is in a bit of a dilemma. Getting entangled with Lucien for a while in the afternoon, she has still some work to be finished. She intends to work overtime in the evening.

Eva hesitates for a moment, "OK, let me talk to him."

As soon as Eva leaves, Carroll Lauren's internal telephone comes in.

"Nina, why don't you join in the collective activities?"

Nina is very powerless. Only eating and singing, how can it rise to the height of collective activities?

Just about to open her mouth to explain, Carroll says again, "You have just joined the company, so you'd better take part in more group activities and get familiar with colleagues earlier."

Carroll pauses, "Besides, I also hope you can go."

He says the last words quickly and in a small voice, and Nina doesn't hear it clearly. She just thinks the first few words of Carroll are reasonable. She nods, "Well, I'll shut down the computer and go to dinner."

The Cozyroom is not far away from J&Y Group. Nina and her colleagues walk all the way, talking and laughing. Eva has booked two big rooms in advance. After the buffet, everyone begins to play dices, drink and sing.

Nina has been abroad for five years. She could hardly sing the domestic popular songs, so she carries a drink and listens to others quietly.

"Nina, why don't you sing?" Carroll comes and sits beside Nina.

"Em, I am not good at singing. Mr. Lauren, you sing very well!" Nina says sincerely. Carroll has just sung a very touching love song, and he is so devoted that everyone applauds.

"Is it?" There is a glimmer of smile in Carroll's eyes.

Nina suddenly feels a little uneasy. The mood in Carroll's eyes is too obvious. She is not dull, and she can feel it.

She looks elsewhere and nods smilingly, but she cannot help blushing a little.

Her cheeks are as white as jade, with two looming red halos on them, her eyelashes are dense and long, and her eyes are fluttering like butterfly wings. She looks very charming. Carroll looks at her fondly, and the love in his eyes increases.

It's more than 11 o'clock after the song. Everyone is going home.

"Nina, let me drive you home!" Carroll looks at her. It is a rare chance. He wants them to get closer.

"Don't bother, my home is very close to here. I'll just take a ride back." She quickly declines his suggestion.

All the colleagues around have left one after another, only Nina and Carroll are left.

Carroll insists, "How can I do that? It's so late, and it's not safe for you to go back alone. It's not far, anyway. I'm on my way, too."

The light comes from his side. From this point of view, Carroll's tall nose, the corner of his mouth with smile, and the eyes on the bridge of his nose look a little similar to Andrew.

Nina's heart gives a great leap, staring at Carroll's face almost obsessively.

Carroll is a little embarrassed by the expression in her eyes. He pushes his glasses and smiles, "Nina, is there anything on my face?"

Nina just realizes that she has looked at Carroll's face infatuatedly for some time a moment ago.

"Er, no, no... Nothing..." She averts her eyes awkwardly and feels a light sadness.

Andrew...

She hasn't heard from him for a long time. Andrew and Abby should have been married, right? And they have a lovely baby, living a happy family life...

Nina and Carroll are both silent, and the air is full of ambiguities.

Across the road, there is a black SUV. The window is half open. The smog rises slowly from the window, and the red light of cigarette butt reflects a man's dark eyes as sharp as a blade.

"Let's go, Nina." Carroll starts to pull her arm.

Nina is so beautiful and mysterious tonight, letting Carroll's heart surging violently.

Nina is still immersed in the sad mood and follows Carroll to the car without objection.

The black SUV, following Carroll's car like a ghost, drives up the broad main road.

Nina's home is not far away. Although Carroll tries to drive slowly, they soon reaches the downstairs of her house.

"Thank you, Mr. Lauren! I need to get off now. Be careful on your way." Nina expresses her thanks with a smile and opens the door to get off.
